in the Old Museum Building, Bowen Hills

Handel's Messiah (Arranged by Mozart)

Handel’s Messiah was first published in 1767 and is normally chosen for performance today.  But in 1789 Mozart was commissioned to rescore the work to a German libretto.  Mozart also took advantage of the advances in orchestral instruments in the previous thirty years and added a layer of modern harmony to the work.  The Bach Society in this year’s Messiah honours its founders by repeating their choice of setting for their first Messiah in 1977.

Tickets: Adult $60; Concession $55; Secondary School Student $30
